I have a 3 1/2 month old Black Copper Marans rooster. He started crowing about a month ago. So far he's been a good boy, only crowing after 5:30 am or 8:00 pm and no middle of the night crowing so I figured if he got any earlier with his "singing" I would try what others have done which is to put him in a dog crate for the night time hours so he can not stand to stretch and crow.
Well, yesterday afternoon and again this morning good old Buttercup (yes, it's a girl name but he was supposed to be a hen!) was sitting on one of the roost perches and belted out a good full bodied crow. Apparently he doesn't need to stretch in order to be heard. Yesterday he wasn't eve on the perch, he was sitting on the ground. Can he be any lazier?
Do roosters normally sit and crow or is he being lazy?
