Leaf-Mulch in Run/Pen?

Hello,
I am looking for something for my chickens to do in the lonely desert of a pen, and with all of the leaves from fall..............................
Would it be a good or OK idea to lay down my raked leaved in my chicken run-pen? Would anything be hindered?

I throw almost all of my fall leaves in the chicken run. They love scratching through them for weeks. Then I throw the scratched leaves on the garden and load the run with more leaves.

If the leaves get wet I like to throw some scratch in there to get the girls to stir them all up and keep them from turning into a slippery mess. Wet/chicken pooped leaves are probably the only draw back I have seen with using leaves.

Leaves would be great.......best to mix with other 'browns'.
Just watch for packing and any slimy growth.
