LEAF WARS!!! (If you have feuds w/ neighbors over leaves, etc)

Quote:
Me too! the only time I rake, it is so that I can watch my chickens scratch the leaves up.

I live in the country, so the most noise that my neighbors make is a rooster crowing, and I like that kind of noise.

I was talking to a neighbor this morning about this.
I have a neighbor two doors down, who is the other neighbors next door neighbor(got that?LOL)

She doesnt mow the yard. She put an arbor up over the front walkway a few years ago. It is leaning. Always has. Always will. Well until someone finally gets really tired of looking at it and topples it over some night.
The back yard has grass about waist tall during the summer. Right now it is all matted down from the snow we had. She put a green house in the back yard that is filled with dead plants now.
She doesnt put trash out. We can only imagine what the house looks and smells like inside

The side yard is covered in dog poop. since she just ties her dog out there. Heaven forbid she clean it up.
We all take care of the sidewalk abutting our property. Meaning we weed it during the summer, shovel during the winter and sweep it come spring. Not her. The wee3ds in front of her house on the walk were over 4ft tall last summer. My elderly neighbor HATES this woman.

Thing is. when she bought the house it was pristine. And she had a list of demands she wanted met before she bought it. The sellers fixed what bothered her and now she has ruined the house.

I dont get people

I've checked the noise ordinance, and he starts Just as it's allowed. Also his dog barks every time they let it outside. I don't care, that balances out the rooster, but then someone "annonymously" callled the cops over my dog barking once saying she was out there for hours (10 minutes is hours?) and he complains when my puppy gets loose and runs over to his yard to play with his dog. He said that he's "afraid for his and his children's lives" 1st it's a puppy, second it's the same dog they have, just a different color. We call him Houdini for a reason lol.
We've tried putting the leaves back in his yard, they mysteriously end up in ours again. He finally stopped putting trash in our yard to get picked up, when we added our bags on top of it.

Just for clarification, I wasn't talking about a war with another country, I don't know how that got in there, and I'm not planning to shoot my neighbor.
I'm just tired of listening to lawn mowers, leaf blowers, and snow blowers everyday year round for seven years. It's unfair that people call the cops on me and my dogs, but ignore their own faults. I'm friendly with all my other neighbors, and have tried with Leaf Man too, but he just gives me dirty looks/ignores me.

I can understand the frustration of what ya'll are saying - when we lived in "suburbia" we had our issues but not enough to retaliate with neighbors. We usually brought the issue to their attention (whatever it was) and they honestly werent aware they were doing such and such (or they were and were embarrased they were caught doing so) - never did it again. It could have gotten ugly but... we chose not to go that route and instead, because we went the other way - it worked out for the better. Here now where we live - we planted 109 Leyland Cypress bordering our property lines - they had been in the ground for quite some time when the 20-something neighbor cut about 5 down with the lawnmower. Mind you they are 5 feet OVER on my property. Was I upset? YEP - did I have a mind to blast him? Yep... but did I? No... I calmed down...then walked over and talked to him. He offered to replace them (at the cost of $6.00 per tree because thats what they cost at that height) and I told him no, but please to be careful in the future cutting the grass. He felt terrible he did it, and if I had gone off on him as was my first initial reaction... we'd be like the Hatfields and McCoys I'm sure. I dont want that... he was remorseful enough, poor kid. I purchased new trees myself and replaced them on my own dime.

As far as what other peoples houses/lawns look like - unless you live in a HOA - there's nothing you can do about it. Like someone else said, maybe they are disabled - maybe they dont care about what the yard looks like because they are battling something else a bit deeper on the inside? Instead of ridiculing them, how about the neighbors get together and do a Pay It Forward type of thing and brighten that persons day (asking first of course) and see where it leads you? It may be that this person has no friends (or feels that way), feels ostracized by everyone in their life, may be a recluse, etc - and may just be looking for a friendly face.

right now I have a pile of stones next to my driveway and bought them before I got hurt. I can't spread them and the landscape people want over $400 to do it. I can't afford that although I have family who could help they won't. Maybe this women whose house is not so good needs a hand and just a someone to do it with. Maybe she needs a friend to help her get going. Maybe she suffers from manic depression. Up one day down the next.
Reach out and touch somebodies hand, make this world a better place if you can.

This is where living in a secluded area has many advantages...
We lived in a development for several years and that kind of behavior is what drove me to move. My family calls me a hermit....oh well, lol.

Hello, fellow Rhode Islander!! I know where Chariho is, so I doubt complaing to the town will do too much

We didn't have a Leaf Man, We had the Hedge Guy. Hedge Guy would trim those Hedges with a chain saw everyday. Hedge Guy was never satisfied. One side was lower than the other, he's trim the other side. Then THAT side was too low etc.
What annoyed me most about Hedge Guy wasn't the trimming of the hedges so much, but he left the mess on our side. Never cleaned it up. So, I feel your pain.
We moved recently to a small farm out in the middle of nowhere. It's quiet, secluded, and no Hedge Guy.
