Hi! I'm incubating 9 eggs (now 8) in my incubator. When I went to check on them today, one had leaked and smelled bad. I took it out and threw it away, but what should I do now? Do I clean the incubator? Will the others survive? We're on day 7 if that information matters.

Leave things be. Clean it when you are done with it. Candle the eggs at night with a good flashlight if you are curious about the others. After 7 days .. that egg should not have smelled bad. It was a lot older than 7 days if it did. Are these your own eggs? Or are they eggs that you bought and had shipped to you?

Thank you! This puts my mind at ease. A friend brought them from his neighbor's farm, so it could totally be an old egg. I just meant that I put them in the incubator 7 days ago. The others look good from the outside.

I candle mine after a week or so to check. If you can see through the shells in the dark with a small strong flashlight, you should be able to see developing veins if they are fertile. The others could be just as old.
