Hello

I am new to the whole chicken thing so bare with me. I have 10 couple week old chicks and was looking for a cleaner and drier solution to providi g water for them. I bought 5 water nipples from Amazon and installed them into a piece of 1 1/2 PVC and it made for a nice clean looking solution but they leak. Do you all have any suggestions? They are leaking from the nipple and not the threads. I have included a picture also. This is a gravity feed system a d it doesent hold more than a gallon at a time for now while in the brooder. Is it possible I need more water for more pressure or maybe some better quality nipples?

Thanks for any help provided.

I used marine epoxy after having the same problem. My nippled are on the bottoms of big plastic container so if one goes bad I jusy plug it amd putin another. Don't know about pvc pipe.

I just used teflon tape on the threads with no silicone but mine are leaking from the actual metal nipple part and not the threads

Maybe they need to face straight down?
I think that's the problem. There's a ball inside the mechanism at the upper end of the pin they peck at. The nipple has to be vertical for that ball to sit right and close off the opening to stop the flow of water. Nice setup, roady!

I will get a coupling and cut the pipe and turn them straight down and report back. I hope that does the trick.
