Learned New Skill Today...Cauterizing a Bleeding Comb

Didn't know that about cayenne pepper! It's one more thing to add to the list of meds. Thanks! I'm glad Ike is okay, too. We've dealt with bleeding combs before but never had to cauterize one!

Wow Cyn! I missed this thread yesterday.

Poor Isaac!

I'm glad you got it to stop. Quick thinking on both of your parts!

Nice job, Cyn! I don't think I'd have thought to do that.

One of my Marans roos got frostbite on his comb last year; the very tips turned black, and the girls would NOT leave it alone. I finally had to separate him, and it took almost 60 days for the tips to finally dry up & fall off. Boy, was he ever happy to go back into the pen after they did!

How's Issac today? Any pics? Scary, but great solution! I bet you can do it at home by heating the wire on the stove (for those of us without a blow torch, or for those of us for whom a blow torch would be confiscated by the government as a threat to national security).

Iodine worked for my rooster. His comb was still hanging and I had to cut it the rest of the way off. Man do combs gush with blood. The bleed stop gel didn't work either.
