Hey guys!

In about 2 weeks i will be getting my first chickens! They are the mottled java, I will be recieving 2 roosters and 12 hens. Anyways i am a complete noob to the chickens and was hoping maybe you guys could give me some links or tips on how to breed my javas so that i get exactly what i want out of them?

I will provide pictures to anyone that wants to see in 2 weeks just email me!

What exactly do you want out of your javas? If you want to breed them to standard, then you need to know what the standard is and what a good java actually looks like. Looking them up and doing a lot of research on them will help. Then as you breed them, you want to only breed your best birds with each generation. There are a lot of links to line breeding and other kinds of breeding on here, just do a search, maybe those will work for your breeding program. If you aren't interested in breeding to standard and just want maybe better egg production then you have to breed those birds that lay better. It really isn't as complicated as it seems.

I don't know how many people have them or are into them heavily enough to show. I would try to find a breed club and or a top quality breeder of Javas to help you with your breeding pens. And do get a book of standards. Go to a show or two. And just ask around. I am sure there are a few folks breeding them well. Good luck.
