Learning all I can about call ducks !

They are very cute!!

depending on the breeding of your call ducks you can end up with other colors, like just because these two are greys doesnt mean that their parents were greys, so random colors will 'pop' up

i am not good with the genetics part

it looks like maybe the yellowish one might be an apricot
thanks! I wondered if that could happen. I also thought it was strange to get two different color ducklings from the same batch and all the pics I see of grey call babies seem to look like the black and yellow ones. I think it will be awesome if different colors pop up! They will be kept as pets anyway not show quality.

Your drake is a blue fawn, not a grey... the one duckling does look like apricot (called Pastel here in the States), not sure how that one happened though, lol... that is supposed to happen from a blue gene from each parent...

But mating blue fawn to grey does give greys and blue fawns... :)

WOW that's cool! I wondered if he was blue fawn but the guy I got them from thought they were grey. However he kept them in a small pen on the ground without grass so they were always soooo dirty. When he brought them to me I had a fresh swimming water waiting and after they swam and swam and got clean he says to me... I thought both those ducks were brown ! ! Lol

Lol... nope, a grey drake would have a green head and blue speculum (wing patch)...

[/IMG]this is their home now, they thought they were in heaven when I first got them. Their house has two inch insulation and we even bought a heater to keep their pool from freezing in the winter.

Nope, she has a blue speculum, she's a grey... *I think* there's a possibility of a hidden blue gene in her, but not sure... from mixed color matings, they can carry all kinds of surprises, like Liz said... but blue *should be* dominant, so it should express when it is present...

This is a blue fawn duck... :)

I'll look and see what I have in my pics. Its cold and rainy here today and she has 12 eggs again!

No rush, and no worries... I just think I can see something a bit different... might clear up how you got the 3 different colored ducklings... :D

Sweet! Is she actively brooding?
