I am new to having chickens, but it has been under consideration for past two years. This spring, we finally took the plunge and got 6 chicks. Two years ago, I went with our grandson to a farm/field trip for school and at that time he fell in love with chickens, goats, and every other animal they had at the farm we went to. He asked if we could get chickens and goats; I agreed to consider chickens. He continued to ask and have interest, so this year in March, we began to prepare ourselves and our yard for chickens.
We got 6 adorable baby chicks; 2 Silver Laced Wyandotte, 1 amber link, 1 black sex link, 1 rhode island red, and 1 sapphire gem. They are big, in their coop and run, and they have our routine figured out pretty well. Our grandson lays on the ground outside of the run and talks to them, and they come right over to visit. We are enjoying this very much, and are learning all about chickens!
