Hi,
I am living my dream (finally). It would have been less painful and tiring at 40 but I am still having a blast. I have 20 chickens of all breeds and two roos. We added four ducks to the chicken yard, and they are great together so far.
I have bees, and I am working on a three-season garden, perhaps four if I get my greenhouse. The satisfaction of eating from the garden and the orchard is immense My girls are layers, not broilers, but I have threatened one of the roos.

I am so happy to be part of this community because I have so much to learn.

Welcome to BYC. You will love this group. Roos get weird and mean when they are scared. However, I have found that the ones who scare the most end up being the best friends.
Thanks, Tricia.
I have a mixed group. Foghorn Leghorn is ... a Leghorn. I have 3 Barred Rock.
2 Buff Orpies several gray feathery footed bantams and then a bunch of beautiful but mostly hard-to-identify girls. They are sweet, spoiled and great layers.
I am looking forward to learning more about how to be a good caretaker.
