New to Raising Chickens. I bought a Dozen Red Sex Link & 6 Cornish X Hens back in March from a Poultry Farm not far from my house. The meat chickens are a trial run to see if it’s really worth it.
I built a coop and mesh floor pen about 8 years ago for Game birds to train my Bird Dogs. Then about 2 years later a tree fell on my pen and destroyed a good part of it. I eat about 10 eggs a day and since egg prices sky rocketed this past winter I decided to fix the pen up. I ripped the wire floor out & I Quadrupled the run in size. I have a good bit of lumber left over and plan on building some perches and a shelter over the dust bathing pool and I should be good to go.
I Love the Fodder Tower Idea I seen on here. I have a coal miner shower in my basement and put it in there. My Birds Love there fresh greens.
