I love both of your pictures ... the chickens in the rain is a classic fieldyollie and the one of your daughter and Freckle is adorable LayALilEgg 4Me

I have voted .. NO

My bantams hate it ... if they are supervised free ranging they shelter under the gazebo with me. My Frizzle does a good 'Droople' impersonation when wet

Aww bless , i didnt think chickens liked the rain until like fieldyollie we had a downpour of rain and my chickens loved it! Im thinking ill end up blowdrying my chickens everytime it rains now or i will have to put them in their sheltered run! Im paranoid theyll catch a cold if they dont dry quickly! It was 8 in the evening when i was blowdrying the chickens!

Oh and i things were safe to be crazy chicken ladies on here!! Which is great cos i love it!!

I think im going to have to buy the ladies a in coop heater for the winter because they enjoyed them so much yesterday, luckily its ok today :) oh that's good cause Im defo a crazy chicken lady :p

Yeah i think the worms are what my chicjens were going nut for too!! Its soo cute to watchbchickens in the rain!!

Im deffo a crazy chicken lady too! My chickens my dog and my veg patch and fruit plants are the best thing in the world!! My daughter (2 and half years) is just as chicken mad as i am and she loves to watch the veg and fruit grow, we make homemade jam.

I think a in coop heater is in order!! I may have to look into that too!!

aww that fab, my boys are really enjoying the chickens, but don't pay attention to my crops lol, they might be more interested when they see the veg! my chicken where just standing and walking around in it, im guessing where they lived before they didn't have a lot of free roam of the garden and stuck in the coop most of the time! I believe they are easy to make :)

Aww its such a lovely environment for them to grow up in! Teach them good skills and responsibility and to respect things.

The jam is easy to make, just a kg of strawberries (or fruit of your choice) 1 vanilla pod and 500-800g of jam sugar (with pectin in). Just split the vanilla pod in half and scrape the seeds into a heavy bottom pan with the sugar and the strawberries (green tops removed). Mash it with a masher to make a slurry leaving some chunky bits for texture, bring to the boil and then simmer for 5-10 mins. Take the pan off the heat andvleave too cool for fifteen mins... after that if there is a slight film on top its at setting point. Then put it in a sterilized jar and leave it to cool completely with the lid off. Wen thats done put the lid on and in the fridge. It should keep for about a week.

I bet everyone is fighting over the eggs in a morning? I cant wait till all mine are in lay!!

oh that sounds yummy! not really lol the kids love scramble egg and I have eggs in the morning too :) my husband isn't to sure lol amazing how we all forget where eggs and meat comes from cause its wrapped up in packaging, until you see the cycle happening right in front of us!

Oh well we only have hazel who lays but she isnt regular at all yet but i think she is older than i was told, but we get so excited and fight over who gets it when she does lay!! When all the goodness of all the foraging gets through their system the eggs taste like no egg youve had before dont they!

It is amazing to see it happening in front of you and appreciate the process the chicken goes through to lay eggs! I think everyone should own a couple chickens! It may just make the world a better place! :woot
