While walking back to camp, I was remembering all that happened to me during my life. I could almost see Gypsi's dying face, as she laid there, half dead. I heard the howling of the wolves at night. I remembered the hot, dry desert, and then the cool valley. I heard the hustle and bustle of my first HerdGather. I saw my sister's birth, and I saw her small body laying on the ground, even smaller in Death than in Life. I saw my father, brave and strong, and I saw Talon.

Talon, who was so kind to me when we were foals.

Talon, who helped me fight off the puma.

Talon, whom I loved with all my heart.

Talon, who was the father of the foal that would soon be born into this world.

Two months later.
Spring is in the air.
The birds are singing.
Flowers are blooming.
Bees are zipping around.

"Push!" Talon encourages. "I am pushing, you idiot! What does it look like I'm doing?" I gritted my teeth. Who knew having a foal could be this hard? I pushed with all my might. There was another spasm that racked my body. Then all was still. I gasped for air. "Is it born yet?" I asked. "Yep." Talon said. "It's a mare. She looks like you!" "Lemme see." I grunted and shifted around so I could see the foal. "Oh, she' beautiful!" I said softly. The filly looked up at me, and whinnied. "I'll name her Music. Is that ok with you, Talon?" "As long as you like it, I'm ok." Talon said.

I nuzzled her gently, ruffling her soft, blue-gray, fur.
