We have been diligently working on the coop and run to make it predator proof. They have an 8x8 coop with food and water that we shut them in at night, and we have done a 10x10 run they can access through the duck door. When we go away, we planned to leave them in there, able to access to both places.

How long can you leave quackers alone? Searching on here brought up a lot of chicken water solutions, but not so much for ducks. We have a few trips planned this summer. We have a neighbor who will look in on them and refill food and water, but I don't know what to do about their pool. He's not going to want to deal with the dumping/cleaning debacle, but it will be hot here. And I need to figure out a bigger waterer option. Ideas from seasoned people? The longest we will be gone is 6 days. Thanks!

I get a duck sitter if I will be away overnight.

Is there a vo-ag school anywhere near you? Or vet techs? I have heard they are good pet sitters.

You may be able to negotiate including some eggs for the sitter.

One person I know set up a mini-cam in the duck yard to monitor remotely.

We live in the boonies..and no eggs yet! I will keep searching around. I called one petsitter. Figured out a good feeder today...working on waterer. Still no idea about how to manage their yucky pool!
