lee county florida

I live just outside of Fort Myers and you can have chickens in ag zoned areas (these do exist) and some cities in the area have inacted chickens regulations.
Fort Myers proper and Bontita Springs allow a limited number of hens but no roosters.
Anything in Lee county that is zoned residential or commercial including ag/residential is absolutely no chickens at this time.

Make sure you read zoning regulations closely, the keeping of chickens is controlled by zoning ordinances.

I live in Buckingham in between Fort Myers and Leigh Acers; though I’m moving back to Minnesota soon and am rehoming my six hens.
The OP hasn't been seen in about a year. That was very kind of you to provide the information though.:)

Sorry for bumping an old thread then.
I just figured some current well researched information would be useful.
A lot of people around here keep chickens in areas it’s not really allowed. They just hope nobody is bothered enough to go to the trouble of reporting to the zoning office, which does often work.
Unfortunately there is a small group that drive around specifically to find and report people keeping “livestock” where they shouldn’t.

There are places in Lee County it is legal to keep chickens as long as set backs are observed.(100 feet from neighboring homes in ag areas.)

Unincorporated Lee County is not really animal friendly unless it’s “standard” or exotic house pets, except large farms of course.

As for the Fort Myers and Bonita Springs regulations, I only know that they approved keeping a limited number of hens but not the specifics of where, how many, ect..

Does anyone here know if there are any groups for Lee county that are active that are working on changing the ordinance to allow backyard chickens? Any help or guidance is appreciated! Thank you!
