We have a bunch of left over catfish. Already cleaned and cut up. I know I have read fish is good for chickens but how should I give it to them. Is it better raw or maybe baked? Could I make fish ice pops? Any recipes or advice welcome. Tia!

I've found my chickens will go nuts over fish in any form! Found that out the hard way when I was sitting outside having fish for dinner one evening and they snatched it right off my plate.

I would bake it, especially if it's older, but I tend to be pretty cautious.

Thank you both. I was thinking baking would make it easier for them to peck apart. We have had it for two days and I was about to toss it out. Is there a limit of how much they should have? I have one of the big ice cream buckets about half to three quarters full.

If they eat too much fish, their eggs can have a slight fishy flavor, or so I've been told. But that hasn't been my experience...a few weeks ago I mixed up my own feed, got the measurements wrong and fed them feed with 15% fish meal. I believe I've read 6-8% is the suggested max to avoid fishy eggs. We've had no fishy eggs.

Why in the world would you give Catfish to your chickens when you probably have a frying pan and some fresh batter handy?

We had our fill of it. I won't eat fish if it is in the fridge for more than a night I also refrigerate my eggs (un washed) because I can't stand the thought of them sitting outand I smell my milk every time I use it. I know I'm weird but hey it works for me
