leg band problem

I might give the bandettes a try. My wife said for me to just paint their toenails different colors.

I'm gonna try the bandettes.

we have Barr Rockers, too
wish now would have gotten diferent breeds and colors...h
Put tie wraps on them while they were still inside.. the house.... Changed them out a few times.. If they can be twisted easily I know they arent too tight. Hubby is good at it.. I hold them while he put it on each girl and and cuts off the excess plastic I found them in a container with neon colors there are prob 10 of each color in the small round container...
so I named th chicken girls like Goldie, Blackey etc,, one has no tie wrap on and I named her "Non--ee"....
My vision is so bad its hard to even see their leg banding.... and see the color....
just my experiece... thanks yall

I'm gonna give the bandettes a try and if that doesn't work my wife says just name them all "here chick".

When I go out with their afternoon mealworm treats I can call them any name I want cause they come flying to me.

My Wyandottes are 4 months old and I just got the spiral bands for them. I got black ones. Now I'm worried they will peck at their feet once I put them on. Are they too old?

Nah, they will pick at them a few times but distract them with some treats for a minute and they will soon go about their business as usual..

I finally gave up on trying to band them with different colored spiral bandettes ( pointed ends scratched their legs). The colored quick ties looked promising but they still pecked at them. I guess my "girls" are different because they didn't stop pecking at the bands, even after a couple of days. My answer to the "how do I tell the difference between my Barred Rocks" is, have my 7 year old granddaughter come by, because she can tell who's who every time. I hate getting old.

I guess it all depends on the chickens, I just put 2 spiral rings and did it at roosting time, no problem with them. I also have 2 others that have them for over a year and no problem there either
