I see this is a post from February 2020. Did you end up finding the right size? What worked or what did you end up using.. I am trying to come up with a plan to sort my day olds that isn't zip ties. I feel the rainbow elastics may not be stretchy enough, and the hair tie one's are too big or too tight.I'm going to be purchasing spiral leg bands for my chicks. How long are you keeping them? It might be a lot easier to use food coloring to mark them. That's what some hatcheries do if they mark chicks before they ship them. They put a drop of food coloring on the forehead.I'll see if I can find the medium sized ones. Mostly for day olds to keep them sorted for sale. I do have the thin zip ties, I just hate using the them.
I get the multicolored bands I use different colors for specific varieties. I breed 9 different varieties of heritage turkeys, and some look the same as poults. So, these help keep different varieties separated for selling as poults. They are just colored rubber bands and very stretchy and safe + very easy to use, and come in 3 different sizes. These rubber bands are the easiest and safest bands I have used for chicks and poults. https://dunlaphatchView attachment 2960815erypoultry.com/product/rubberband-leg-bands/
