Leg Bands....OK

I got my colored little zip ties at a Deals shop for a $1.00. They also have them at Everythings a Dollar stores as well.

Cutler Supply and several other poultry suppliers have various types of leg bands and size charts on their websites.

Zip ties work well, but you must keep cutting them off of younger chicks, replacing them as they grow.

Just ordered mine from Cutler, and their site tells you what size chickens the bands will fit (info I had a hard time finding)...also, have heard of lots of people using zip ties, but red is probably not the best idea, since they tend to peck at them...

scary those zipties. just ask my hen that I rescued at the auction. some uncaring person placed a ziptie on her leg which grew into her skin, so much so, you could only see the tab end of the green ziptie. she could only hop and was picked on terribly by the other chickens even after it was removed, she never walked right again.
yes, it's cheap, but is it worth it, Hoppy didn't think so and neither did I.

Yes have seen many birds with zip ties that got to tight, yes cheap but they can do alot of harm.
