I have 2 buff silkies a roo and pullet. I'd like to hatch eggs from them once they begin laying however to me I think they look really good color wise and so on one thing is the leg feathering they do not have the leg feathering I desire. Now if i breed them together will I just keep getting chicks with bad leg feathering or is it possible to get ones with better leg feathering and breed those back to continue to improve the leg feathering or should I try to introduce new lines with better leg feathering. Give me advice plz!

Best advise is to add a bird or birds with lots of foot feathering to your flock.

Also be aware that lack of conditioning can make decent foot feathering look pretty shoddy. Right now all my birds are running together (in their breeding groups--not mixed) and making massive messes of themselves. I prefer that in our hot hot summers--they need to be able to move around and get cool.

Yes, at this moment they are a mess from finding leaking spots in the runs and digging into them. They look like they have less then normal with them being muddy but clean and dry and debrie free they still do not have very good foot feathering.
