I’m having a rough start in chicken world. I’m literally on my last day of treating my flock for coccidiosis and I’ve have another issue come up. My 10 week old cream leghorn hen seems to be having leg issues. She can walk but doesn’t want to. She’s been losing her balance and ending up in her back and prefers to sit and not move unless she’s trying to get away from me. I noticed that her leg control seems to be off. She was walking around my barn and she almost did the splits. I’m not sure of any injury. But, they were in a pen in my barn and she had escaped from the pen before so I wouldn’t put it past her to have been goofing around and possibly getting hung up in the pen. Everyone else is in the coop out in the field now but I kept her alone in a covered pen until I can figure this out. I’m absolutely paranoid about another contagious issue. Anyone have any thoughts?

Was she vaccinated for Marek's disease?

I don’t think so. She came from a small, local hatchery. ☹️ But, we’ve had them for 4 weeks with no exposure to any other animals. Could she have that from the hatchery? All my birds came from there.

Marek's is the first thing that comes to my mind.

Can you upload a video of her to YouTube?

It's possible you bought them with the disease...if that is what it is.

They have been kept inside my barn up until today. They’ve only walked around the yard a few times when my kids took them out of their pens and played with them in the yard.

Do you have other chickens?

It sounds like Marek's. I'm curious to see if it looks like it.

What exactly do you feed them?
