I have posted before about this chic. She is now just over 6 weeks old. She was the last one to hatch and her hocks seemed weak. At about ten days old one of her legs started turning out.
Her bad leg usually sticks out behind her and she seems to of lost control of it. The twist in her leg seems to be up in her hip. I have tried different splints on her and the leg still rotates back even with a splint on. Her one good leg is starting to curl up now. She somehow gets herself around for food and water. The other chics do not bother her except for the occasional running over her. So I guess my question is there anything I can do for her? Should I keep experimenting with some kind of brace? Is she to old for this to correct itself? She does not have sores from laying down the majority of the time. It is painful to see her trying to get around. She seems healthy besides the leg. Will she have any kind of a life like this? Maybe I am just looking for support. I really do not want to kill her if she can live a happy life. Just what I need an crippled chicken.
I have to make a decision. Should I wait longer or is that cruel? Thank you all for any advice.
