My Pioneer has something wrong with her leg. As a chick she grew so fast and her legs/feet were so big that she used to step on her other foot. As she got older she continued to step on her own feet but I never noticed a serious turning out of her hock until a few months ago. She would turn her foot in a little but the hock did not stick out to the side until recently. I just let it go (probably shouldn't have) because she appeared to be in no pain. She forages, eats, drinks, walks, runs when she has to, jumps up and down off the roost. She is 20 weeks now and her bad leg looks swollen more than it has ever been. I am concerned that her good leg is getting too much work. I researched and found info on slipped Achilles tendon and femur disorders. I am not sure if it is either of those or just a deformity. I really like this hen and hope that there is something I can do for her or a splint or something. We have no avian vets anywhere around here and my vet doesn't work with chickens. Would like to know opinions on what this actually is.
