i have a roo and he has red streaks on his legs. that make his entire
legs look red. and now his five month old daughter has red in her legs too is this something that is potentially fatal. they both seem fine they walk run jump roost and act like normal chickens. could it just be something hereditary passed from father to daughter she is the only one to hatch and look like her daddy. so is this a problem or is it just hereditary.

any responses are appreciated and thanked

i just was wondering and just to give me some peace of mind.

but if it turns out to be something fatal with no cure keep your post to your self i do not want to know my two favorite chickens are going to die and please do not suggest that i cull them.

thanks

From what I've read on the forum it's normal for a roo to have the streaks on his legs due to his hormones working, but I've not read about it in a hen yet. I did a search on the forum's main page but didn't come up w/ any info re your hen. Maybe a fellow forum member w/ a lot more experience that me can help you further, sorry.

well thanks for that it knocks out one problem but what about the hen.

we are sure she is a hen. her sibling that we gave to a friend 1 roo 2 hens said that he their roo started crowing and loving his ladies a few weeks ago.

and two her comb is not bit she has tiny little wattles and she is a big sweety she follows me around the yard perches on my shoulder and even squats for me now i am just waiting on the pullet eggs.

Can you get a pic of the legs so someone can tell you if they are normal? It might put your mind at rest......
