Leg rings on chicks

Hiya everyone, I am currently incubating my first ever batch of eggs. Everytime I have a question for google this site provides me the answer so I have cut out the middle man and from now on will be posting directly on here!
When my chicks hatch I would like to be able to identify them easily from one another. When can i attach leg rings? Is straight away to early? Thanks Stacey

Depending on what kind, you can put them on at a day old. Some people like the regular spiral plastic bands, other people use the tiny zip ties, or the little hair rubber bands. You can also toe punch, or even use wing bands on bigger chicks. Just be very careful and keep an eye on any leg bands you put on since they will need to be removed and replaced as the chicks grow, and that can be a lot sooner than you think.
