Legbar chicks

Hello! I got these legbar chicks today and I know they are an autosexing breed but I want to be sure because I’m giving them to a friend, possibly tomorrow, and she doesn’t want to have roosters. It’s the lighter one I’m worrying about of course.

In the picture with two, I’m sure the one on the right is a girl. The picture with three, I’m pretty sure the other one is also a girl. And then there’s the one with the spot on its head…. Is it a pullet or cockerel?

I tried to quickly just select pullets but it was busy in there. So I don’t have any definite cockerels to compare to. There’s the spot, I feel like the eyeliners not as defined? But it is darker than I remember boys I’ve had in past that I’ve hatched myself being. And there is eyeliner there. Maybe this one is a cream legbar and the other two are crele legbars?

I know with legbars I have had pullets with a bit of a head spot, just smaller and more defined than cockerels.

Help me so I don’t betray my friend lol!

I'm not sure if this helps, but these babies just hatched yesterday. I sent this picture to the seller and they said the darker one with the more defined stripes is a female, the other two are male. They also said the males might have the eyeliner, but it wouldn't be as defined.

That’s the thing, he’s much darker than ones I’ve hatched in past. I hatched 3 girls and two boys last year and the boys were a lot lighter. But the girls, one was crele and one was opal. Only was one a cream legbar. So I’m not sure if that colouring difference is throwing me off too.

And I didn’t hatch these ones, I bought them. Maybe he’s just younger than the more obvious girl, I don’t know.

It seems the same rules apply, but it can be harder to see in the lighter colored chicks. These are my first legbars, sorry I'm not more helpful.

@nuthatched @JedJackson are y'all familiar with legbar chicks?

Honestly, two of those chicks are darker than any Legbar I've ever seen. They could be hatchery quality or they might be a different breed or hybrid altogether.

I have a feeling they are not Legbars, and so it is difficult to say gender with those. They could be olive eggers, maybe.

The regular brown one is a female.

As a side note, Legbars pretty much are crele except they have genes that dilute gold and make it paler.

Sorry I couldn't be more definite. I think you are going to have to warn your friend that you are uncertain of gender for two of them.
