Everyone's favorite game!

Have you tried ordering from Murray McMurray? A fair number of folks recommended them when I was looking for those breeds. I got a nice FBCM hen and a pair of CCL from them, and they turned out fine. Of course, the FBCM was supposed to be a rooster, so that messed up my breeding plan, and she would lay 2-3 eggs a week for about six weeks and take a month or so off. But I think that may be par for the course for FBCM, and I only had the one hen.
Not as of yet. I have checked out their site to see what they have along with a bunch of others. My preference is just to hatch and not have anything shipped. I've driven a few hours in all directions to get the breeds I have now. I'm sure I'll have to branch out if I want to actually get what I paid for! You wouldn't think it would be so hard....

Is it possible for you to buy pullets? That way you can actually see what you're getting. They are more expensive, but it may be worth it for you to be able to buy the breeds you want.

You're right, on all counts. I would know I'm actually getting what I want, and it is usually crazy expensive! I do enjoy hatching them myself. I like having the relationship with them. The two that I bought as pullets are so skittish! I've worked with them since the first day I've had them but it really hasn't helped. One was actually loose this morning and no matter what I did, I couldn't get her back in. I had to turn the whole flock loose so she came to them, then everyone went back on their own after some foraging. I'd rather be tripping over a mob of chickens when I'm trying to walk then have them panic when I get close. It may be that's the direction I have to go but I'm not there yet. I'm going to keep blindly trusting random strangers like an idiot in hopes that they are true to their word. That's all buying eggs and babies really is anyway.

The eggs were supposed to be barnvelders, cream legbars, and opal legbars. He came from a blue egg so legbar. There doesn't appear to be a touch of legbar in him the way he looks, at least to me. She won't respond to any messages. I've been trying for months. I'm waiting to see an ad with her eggs for sale again. I'll be saying something...
You should take out an ad alongside hers: For Sale - mixed chickens from the "purebred" eggs listed above. When someone calls, just tell 'em they're sold!

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love it! That may actually not get flagged immediately like my unkind post would be.

Goodness gracious they’re all so gorgeous and unique!! Sorry they’re not what they were supposed to be though. That’s a bummer.
