Are pure Leghorns solid white? My three have gray feathers here and there and A few dark speckles. Their overall look is white, but I was wondering if they might be a mix. It doesn't really matter to me. Their eggs are not bright white. That also does not bother me. I love my girls. I was just curious.

White leghorns are bright white and lay bright white eggs. I agree yours probably have a little something else in there.

I bought them from a lady in the area who had just picked them up from somewhere. I have no idea where they are from.
I have also learned to be a bit more picky where I get birds. I bought 8 from her. Four are gone due to sickness. The three Leghorns are fine (she had gotten them the day before I came and got mine). The Light Brahma I got from her is also doing well.

That's a little scary. It's never a good thing to get sick chickens and add them to your flock. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

They were actually my first birds. So my first flock had sick chickens. A big education for a new chicken owner. But I have learned a lot. I got 5 more from a different source and now have a healthy looking flock of 9. Lets hope it stays that way for a while.
Well I hate to say that was fortunate but it sure was. I would hate to add sick hens to my existing flock. That would be awful.
I'm sure things will stay good for quite a while now.

I know I have learned a ton since I got my first ones. Many things the hard way. This site has helped a lot since I found it.

Here are pictures. I don't think they are 100 percent Longhorns. But they are pretty to me.
