I am not sure of the age...I got her as a rescue chicken...I was told she is about 2 years old.

She seems sick. I can't tell if she is warm (I'm amazed how warm chickens are normally). I haven't seen her eat or drink in three days. Her comb is floppy. She hasn't laid an egg in about three days (she normally lays about every other day). She walks around during the day, but is very slow. In her house all night long, she won't lay down (she has never roosted...but sleeps in a laying box). Her poop was runny yesterday, but was soft and formed this afternoon. I can't feel an egg (I don't think she is eggbound. I've heard that when chickens are sick they stop or slow in laying). What ideas do you have for me? I'm very worried about her.

I have two other hens they seem well/normal. No s/s of mites.

If she was rescued from a factory she may not understand how to sleep sitting or roosting. Try giving her colored Gatorade. The color normally attracts chicks and the electrolytes will perk her up. Leghorns should have floppy combs, is her in any way abnormal? Mine is 2 and lays every other day because of the heat. She may just be adjusting right now.

* She needs fluids asap! Use an eyedropper and give her a little through the side of the beak and let her swallow by herself. I would go with 5O/5O pedialyte & water or gatorade/water every 2O minutes for at least the first hour or two. . . . Hopefully she will perk up fast!! Next, you can add a very small amt. of powdered feed to get a thin wet mix and start giving that via the eyedropper in the same way. . . Any wet mix of feed MUST be fresh, so mix only an ounce in a shot glass or similar. . .
