Hi, I hope someone can help me. Here is the information: 1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.): She is a 7 month on Leghorn. She is a little less than 4 pounds. I just weighed her the other day and she feels lighter than she used to but I don't know her weight prior. 2) What is the behavior, exactly.: Limping on her left leg, Pale Comb, diarrhea. Feathers on head are dirty, I think maybe other hens are pooping on her not sure. I give her baths. I checked for mites and bathed her and didn't find any. 3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?: about 3 weeks. But limping has gotten worse within the last week.
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?: No. They did have diarrhea for awhile but is better now.
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.: No
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.: I was told maybe she had worms. So I treated my flock with safe-guard, finished the last dose yesterday. Did it for 3 days. Not sure though.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.: drinking water, I put electrolytes in it to help. She is eating as normal also. Some scratch. Free ranging during the day.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.: looked very runny until today I noticed it to be normal and more solid.
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?: safeguard for 3 days. Also I have half a baby aspirin to see if she would stop limping, didn't help. 10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?: I hope to treat on my own.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use: Pine shavings in the coop. Free ranges during the day. If her issue is worms, how long would it be after giving her the last dose of medicine until I will see her feeling better? I understand I have to give her another 3 days of doses a week after finishes the first 3 doses. Is that right? If anyone can help I would be very thankful. Thank you for reading.

Thank you. I will buy that too and try it. I'l do anything. She is my favorite chicken and the leader of the flock.

Coccidiosis in adult chickens is rare. It also would not explain the limping. You could treat for it if you wanted. Has she been laying normally lately?

Any chance you could take a fecal sample to a vet and have them take a look? If she has worms or a high load of coccidia, they would be able to tell by doing the fecal on her. Fecals generally aren't too expensive.
