I just bought two white leg horns at the feed store this week. Can't wait for them to grow and to start getting eggs! I was really thrilled to learn that they are around four and a half months to Maturity versus the six months that some of the bigger breeds require. I also am excited to get so many eggs from them. I was just talking to my friend today who is 90 years old. He was telling me that when him and his wife were younger they would order 500 White Leg Horns from a hatchery in California. They would eat the roosters and or sell them, and then they would get the eggs from the rest of the hens and sell them. I can't imagine having that many chickens! I will say that as chicks, they seem to already be flightier and more scared than my other chicks.
