leghorns

I have 3 Leghorns, and they did just fine here over winter, laid eggs most everyday! Of course I am in Kentucky so there are no 20 below days here, but we did have some really cold temps this past winter. They can get frostbite on their combs, so you have to be careful about how you water them (make sure they can not stick their comb into water or have it drip on them) and just keep an eye out for signs. Make sure they have a nice, safe, warm shelter to go into, we added a heat lamp to their coop and extra straw.

Welcome to BYC!

They will do fine in the winter if you have good ventilation in your coop and as Gayleyy has said, be careful with water so they don't freeze the combs or wattles.

The are great layers, but can be a bit skittish. Enjoy your new adventures and welcome to our flock!
