Toast didn’t make it.

I went to apply more oil, but didn’t see any movement. I moved the egg a little, but still nothing. I very carefully pulled back some membrane, but she was gone.

I took her out of the egg, just to make sure, but she was unfortunately gone.

I don’t know why the last 2 just didn’t hatch. Maybe it was temperature fluctuations, humidity, or perhaps there was something just ‘wrong’ with them. Maybe it was the other chicks bumping into them. I don’t know.

They were both Silkie mixes. I feel like there was something I could have done better... thank you.

It's ok to feel sad, but please don't blame or beat yourself up about it. Sometimes things like this just happen.....and there is nothing we can do to help.

Definitely don't blame yourself. I've blamed myself many times. You did what you could and that's all you could do, and that's all that matters. Toast is in a better place.
