Can anyone tell me anything about lemon earlobes? This colour is omitted from all discussions of earlobe colour that I've found to date. The bird in question's shanks are willow, so I'm assuming she has yellow skin with slate there too, but my other yellow skinned birds do not have lemon earlobes. I did have an Isabella Leghorn roo, and he had lemon earlobes; he could be her grandsire but not her sire.

Wow, so pretty!

Maybe this isn't even close, but had you seen this thread? @NatJ replied a few times and might provide some insight.
thanks Debbie; I hadn't seen that thread. So maybe it is yellow over white then, as her legs are yellow over dermal melanin / slate.

I think I may need to leave this one open. For I found this written in 2012: "Shank color genetics in chickens is anything but straight-forward. Traits believed to be dominant a century ago are now considered recessive. Traits which appear to be governed by one gene now appear to be one gene with five different loci. Some believe shank color to be controlled by two traits, others by three, and still others by four, and all agree that the expression of these traits is affected by a plethora of plumage genes and yet-unidentified modifiers." https://scratchcradle.wordpress.com/2012/09/02/gms10-skin-and-shank-color/

I'm waiting to see what colour eggs she will lay when she starts (not lemon-coloured, surely!); should be soon now.
