I don’t have a mottled chick, and don’t have much experience with faverolles, but in this pics I posted previously, the first pic I posted was of my cockerel at 4 weeks. His comb was huge already compared to my girl. Yours doesn’t seem to have much comb, or any real true black feathers. But who knows. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in. That chick really is adorable!

Here’s my boy at 4 weeks. He had a lot of black, and a large comb already.

She’s a darker colored pullet. A cockerel would be black where her brown is. Many hatchery pullets are known to get black specks and have darker coloring.

I’m voting pullet. Agree with at @Overo Mare and @CaliforniaMountainChicks that many SF from hatcheries do not have as distinctive dimorphic coloring as they are supposed to.

I ordered a big batch of chicks from the hatchery. Boy did I get some surprises. They are all supposed to be pullets, but I don’t think they are. Here is one of my salmon faverolles at three weeks. What do you think? Pullet or cock? Feathers coming in laced with black, but still lots of brown. I have two other chicks that have creamy peach chest feathers. Thanks!
