Let’s play the gender guessing game

No photos from when they were 6weeks old. I thought I was in the clear when they were weeks old because they all feathered very quickly, while the roo I have now feathered sooo slowly and crowed at like 6 weeks haha

ugh I tried taking more photos. Impossible to catch these buggers by myself

Omg I don’t know how my puppy got in there... lol

annnnyway, I’m pretty confident that the one with a white tail is a pullet. The dark tailed one, I’ve noticed it’s tail is starting to get really long tail feathers... prob a boy. Haha thanks everyone

If you have pics of when they were about 6 weeks old,
it's much easier to tell at that age then at 16 weeks.

But then again at 16wo the hackles and saddles should be pretty clear, but they are not.

I'd guess slow to mature cockerels or 'hermaphrodites' (that's not the right word but CRS right now).

I'm obviously new to the chicken venture but can you explain why 6 weeks would be easier to identify? I have four 6 week olds (my first flock) and so far I believe they are all pullets but one. I'd love your input on how I can tell better at this age. Thank you!

With most breeds males are readily apparent at 4-8 weeks by bigger and redder combs and wattles. IMO that's the easiest time to tell......until ~4 months when saddle and hackle feathers emerge.

Got it, thank you so much! The one pullet in question has the largest comb of all the others and "she" is the most aggressive. Her favorite pastime is to peck at me if I approach the brooder, charge and perch on the edge of the open door then try to peck me when I reach in to change water or feed. My fiance however, she lets him pick her up, pet her head. Can't have roos where we are so our "Flo" might turn into a "Fred". I gotta be honest I wouldn't be sad to see her/him go since she clearly hates me.

I’m back, haha. I’m trying to get good photos. No one is growing yet, at 3mos, I’ve got to get them out of here if they are boys.

based off these two tails, and hackles I’m saying these two are males.

The pretty one in back, I’m having the hardest time figuring out. And I don’t want to give up a hen by accident.
Ugh haha
