Let’s start some gender guesses! Ameraucanas, starting at 3 weeks!

Ok here’s the 6 week update! Lost track of their color marks as the food coloring wore off and I’ve been quite busy with other things! Let me know your guesses on their gender and I’ll give mine too… These white Ameraucanas (plus a blueish one) are quite tough to sex, and they always look flushed because of how hot it is. My guesses are really just guesses because I’m honestly not completely sure on any of them right now! Definitely the toughest chicks to sex so far! No signs of any obvious cockerel behavior from any of them.

Chick 1, blueish?: Pullet

Chick 2: Cockerel (scratched his poor face on something!)

Chick 4: I always thought this one was a cockerel because of the comb size, but I’m not so sure, it’s still really pale and flat so I’m keeping an eye on this one.

I only have had ameraucana pullets/hens, so don't know how cockerel looks like. I think 2 and 6 are cockerel too. 4 may be a cockerel. My blue ameraucana had really strange color: mostly blue with 2 black feathers! I never figured out if she is blue or splash. Your blue ameraucana looks even lighter than my lavender ameraucanas.

They are so adorable! :love
Your guesses seem pretty accurate to me.

A good and mostly reliable indicator is the comb. 3 rows of distinct peas normally indicates male.

Ok here’s the chicks now at 9 weeks old today, and here are my guesses! I can’t wait for the 12 week mark which is when the cockerels should be getting those pointy saddle and hackles and then I’ll know for sure who’s a pullet and who’s a cockerel!

Chick 1: Pullet

Chick 2: This is one that I always thought was going to be a cockerel because the comb was always on the larger side but now it hasn’t really grown much and it’s still pale, especially compared to the chicks I think are cockerels, so honestly I might be leaning pullet now…

Chick 4: Cockerel. He has a red large comb and he just has that cockerel face!

Chick 5: I’m thinking another cockerel? The comb is quite small but it’s quite red compared to the pullets, he also kinda has that cockerel like face! They just have this beady eye thing going!

Chick 6: This one has me a bit stumped and I’m either thinking a later maturing cockerel or a flushed pullet lol.
