Hello, everyone.
In my 4 years of raising chickens, I have had 2 die due to ovarian cancer (my favorites, of course
). The diagnosis was confirmed upon necropsy.
I am currently concerned about my little Rose- a sweet Easter Egger I am very bonded to. She hasn’t been laying, stands as though she is uncomfortable, and takes abnormally small poos. I have eliminated egg binding and egg yoke peritonitis and am preparing for the worst.
Upon my research:

Upon my research:
a 10 percent flax seed supplemented in the diet may help reduce severity (K Ansenberger et al., 2010)
26 or 53 mg/day curcumin can reduce tumor size and reduce cancer risk up to 35% (K Sahin et al., 2018)
200-400 mg/kg lycopene per day significantly reduced the overall ovarian tumor incidence as well as size and number of tumors (K Sahin et al., 2018; E Yilmaz et al., 2020).
Ginger at 5 g/kg of diet per day can potentially aid in treatment and prevention of tumors
(J Rhode et al., 2007; G Zhang et al., 2009; C Wen et al., 2019; A Akbarian et al., 2011; X Zhao et al., 2011).
400-800 mg/kg of genistein per day can exhibit an anti cancer effect (F Erten et al., 2021).
Is there anything else I can do to help prevent this terrible disease in my flock and to aid Rose’s healing? I am sick with heartbreak at the thought of losing another chicken and as a woman who just got through breast cancer treatment, I am tired of watching cancer destroy beautiful creatures.See more at: http://www.poultrydvm.com/condition/ovarian-cancer
