Understood. Large meat birds do exist. A group of us are workin' to develop a uniform line of big, fast growin', productive meat birds. We are currently culling any young bird that doesn't make a weight of 10 oz by the age of 42 days. We have also found that there is a connection to the size of the finished birds that can be pre-determined by egg size. Here is a picture on a scale of a dozen randomly chosen eggs from these birds. Take note of the weight of the dozen.

We are not sellin' eggs, and are not salesman. We are workin', like others before us to provide a consistantly bigger bird to the quail hobbyist that wants a primarily meat bird. We do, however, give away eggs to many "new breeders" to get them started. If I were to sell these to the public, I could guarantee that a good percentage of the birds that they hatch would make these weights, although there would be a few that would not. I think the key to findin' such foundation stock would be to have the seller of eggs bein' purchased, provide a similar guarantee in writing.

Sorry,,
Maybe I did not do a very good job in responding to the post. For some reason I do well in conversation but in written words on a forum I have a harder time.I was not trying to challenge anyone’s opinion.
After weeks of trying to find a good breeder I think the one I linked to is the one I would trust the most if I can get eggs from there. I still want to find a different line and was hoping to find someone more local. If a state or local fair judges Quail I thought it may be a good place to find someone rising birds.
I will not be one of those who cry about what I got or didn’t get for I do understand I am responsible for my choices and how I handle the outcome. How my bird’s progress has a lot to do with how I handle them, I would just like to have a good starting point to work from.
I do thank you for your input and hope to learn more every day and hope someday to know enough to share with others.
P.S.Thank you cva 34 That is what I was hoping for !
