Hello everyone. My name is Christie and I live on 40 acres(shared property with my parents) with my husband, our 4 kids,3 dogs,a cat,turtle, and lizard(inside),6 rabbits(2 we birthed) and of course our birds(outside). We started with our birds about a year ago. Who knew birds could be so much fun and have such personalities? Ours run up to us and are always glad to see us. They follow us around and make lots of noise at us.
We also have 2 apple, 2 cherry, and 2 hazelnut trees, we are planting plum pits this year, and we have 2 grape vines. We usually have a huge garden. We make our own salsa, tomato sauce,applebutter,and can vegetables. We unfortunately had a house fire last Oct and had to move the location of our mobile home to where the garden is so no garden this year.
We are trying to start up a "farm stand" type business to sell eggs, our garden/tree picks and stuff we make, babies we have hatched and rabbits we have birthed.
We currently have:
CHICKEN
2 barred rock, 1 road island red(all hens)
6 polish bantams, 2 misc. bantams, 3 golden laced wyandotte(not sure of sexes yet)
1 turkey(hen)named Becky
Ducks
1 Indian Runner(drake) named Goofy
1 Pekin(hen) named Mouth
1 Rougen(hen) named Waddles
2 Runner/Rougens that Waddles hatched
We have just started hatching ducks in an incubator. 7 are due to hatch Sept 12 or so and 2 that are half hatched. Not going well so far we have lost 4 (one hatched to early because temp got too high for a couple hours), 2 for unknown reason, and one suffocated because it took too long to make external pip.
Everytime I googled a problem I found the answer here so I decided to join.
