Just walked in the door and my eggs are here. I thought i read somewhere i need to let them rest a day before setting them. Also di i set them with the point up or down? I do have an auto turner. Thanks

some of these i cant tell by looking which end is the small end. Anyway to determine this? Also should i scrape off the shavings that are stuck to them or does it matter? Thanks

Even tho there shouldn't be much of an air cell in a fresh egg I'd candle to check which end should be up. I usually candle when I set them to check for cracks that aren't visible anyway.

I just read this too. Can someone tell me why?

If I just stuck them under my broody, what harm would it do?

Thanks,
Ellie

Letting them set is supposed to help the air cell settle into place if it's been jostled around shipping. If you're going to put them under a broody you wouldn't have worry about which end is up.
