Creamsicle is about 4 months old.
not vaccinated against Marek’s since she was a gift from someone’s farm.
I noticed her Tuesday. Hunched over, ruffled, and isolated. I grabbed her (usually friendly anyway) without too much drama. I started giving her corid in the water and some drops in her beak. She started walking backwards on her hocks and couldn’t quite peck at the food - she’d miss it even though it was right in front of her.
tuesday evening she got worse, she was star gazing and neck was all twisted And almost had a tick to it. poos were green and watery since she hasn’t eaten all day other than the drops of corid.
wednesday she closed her eyes and hasn’t been Interested in food. She tends to flip and roll over if I set her down so I made her a hammock Inside a box. As long as she is in there with her feet touching, she’s fine. I continued corid drench & water. Her wings and legs are not paralyzed.
thursday I noticed she was getting worse. Her neck was now completely drooping. Figuring I had misdiagnosed Coccidiosis and it was actually a vitamin deficiency, I stopped corid and started tube feeding her a cocktail of parrot baby food, nutridrench, selenium, vitamin E, B12 complex bright orange power, molasses (to flush her system out in case she ate anything) and pedialyte.
Thursday evening wasn’t getting much better, but she wasn’t getting any worse. The ticking is all but stopped, the upside wry neck is mostly gone, but she is still lethargic and not eating on her own. She now sounds gurgly too so I started a small dose or baytril to keep a respiratory issue away.
to top this off, her abdomen seems tender. When I go to adjust her, she screams in pain. I attempt to find her crop and she pulls away from me. even though she has diarrhea, she seems to strain and yell out in pain when she poops.
and just now, she pooped what I think is Coccidiosis poo OR intestinal lining OR color from the bright orange supplement I put in her cocktail. I’ve attached pictures of her poops progress. The one on the popsicle stick is the latest one.
I’ve looked her over. No mites. No lice. She’s had medicated feed but I’ve had a lot of Coccidiosis issues this year with medicated or not Medicated feeds.
i realize Marek’s Can come in many different forms and her being vaccinated doesn’t help her case but my momma hen gut tells me this is something different.
any help would be appreciated. I’m a loss.
do I restart her on corid and the cocktail without all the extra vitamins?
do I keep her on the current feeding plan with no corid?
I feel like I’m running out of time to make the right decision to help her get better.
