Lethargic after rain storm

You can try my modified "magic chicken water" recipe if you like. It's not a cure all but it has natural antibiotic and supportive characteristics. I do 1/2 cup honey (raw, unpasteurized), 2 tbsp molasses, 2 tbsp fresh chopped oregano (dried is fine), 2 tbsp raw apple cider vinegar, and 2 or 3 cloves of crushed garlic in a gallon of warm water. The longer it steeps the better.
Thank you! I’ll definitely keep this in mind! Do you use this as a treatment, preventative, or both?

Thank you! She was eating her layer pellets, but having a little trouble getting them down.
She’s looking a little better, and perking up a bit. Just saw this in her box.

Poops don't look bad. I would say pretty normal since she is not really eating but is drinking a lot. If you decide to dose her with Corid be sure to not give her any vitamins in addition. The vitamins will cancel out the amprolium as it inhibits thiamine production thus starving the coccidia.

Please tell us what her crop feels like?
Do you notice any respiratory symptoms - watery eyes, rattling, gurgling, wheezing?
Have you felt inside the vent for an egg?
Any bloat or fluid in the abdomen below the vent between her legs?
Looked inside her beak for canker or lesions?

Looked her over really well for injury and lice/mites?

Her crop was full yesterday morning, then empty this morning when I found her. I just felt her now, and her crop is full, so that should mean that she ate the layer pellets I put in her crate for her. 😊

No wheezing, gurgling, rattling or anything like that. Breathing is nice and quiet. Eyes look normal. Not seeing any eye/nose discharge. Back end looks clean.

As for feeling for an egg...I didn’t feel one. The thing is, I have no clue if she lays or not! She and her Sister, both from TSC, were sold as EE pullets. Her sister has no beard, no muff, a single comb, and lays brown eggs. Even though this hen has a pea comb, a beard, and muffs, I’m not sure if she lays/will lay brown or blue eggs. I haven’t seen any blue eggs, so my guess is that she doesn’t lay yet, or maybe she hides them? Anyways..I didn’t feel any egg.

I’ve looked for injury, mites, and lice, and haven’t seen feather damage, egg clusters, blood, wounds, etc.

I’ll go feel for fluid, and look for canker or lesions.

Thank you! We put corid in her water, and didn’t give any vitamins.

I’m starting to wonder if maybe it’s a bacterial infection rather than coccidiosis, but I’ll treat with corid just in case.

She was sleeping so I didnt want to disturb her. 😊 She seems to be avoiding the heat lamp, which makes sense since our basement is pretty warm now. She didn’t drink all her water yet, and I couldn’t really tell if she had eaten more food. I’ll try to update again tomorrow morning!
