Hello again. Posted last week about my hen. We have given her a couple baths, a probiotic, @ yogurt. We have checked her vent, seems okay, her crop, again seems to be fine. The thing is, she is still very lethargic, moves very slow, and although she doesn't eat as much as she used to, she does eat and drink, but when she is in the coop she just lays around. She was under their ramp this morning laying down. She stayed there all day until it was time for them to come out. They all come out for a couple hours every day.
You know I was giving them all peanuts for a while, do you think that could of been a problem? It hasn't bothered anyone else. I would really appreciate any suggestions, as to what could be her problem. Thanks folks, Linda

I doubt peanuts are the problem, I would isolate her from the others just to be on the safe side... I missed your thread last week, so I am only going by what I see here. I would treat her for lice/mites by using either sevin or DE as well as dusting coop and chickens. How has her poop been? is it solid, runny? Does it seem like she has a hard time breathing? I know you said you had her on a probiotic, but have you had her on an antibiotic? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get some back story :) I hope things work out for you and your girl!

Does she have lice or mites, do you see any bugs or egg sacks on the feather shafts? How old is she? Has she ever been wormed? Any strange sound breathing, Sneezing or respiratory in nature?

Hi. We checked for lice or bugs, and did not notice any. She seems to be breathing ok. She is about 3 yrs. Been checking on her, she did eat and drink some, but she is barely moving. She has been sleeping a lot. It really has me flabbergasted. None of them have ever been sick. The rest of them, and the ducks all seem to be fine. Appreciate all suggestions, and ty .

Ok, wazine will only kill roundworms.. I would recommend either Valbezan, Safeguard, or Zimectrin Gold.. the first two are for worming either Sheep or goats and the last is a horse wormer.. Depending on which one you can get you would need the dosage.. if you have not opened the Wazine I would take it back and buy one of these three.. I prefer the Valbezan because i use it on more than the chcickens, but some stores do not carry it. You will need to worm them and then do a follow up dose in 10 days. Repeated in 6 months. When their system become overloaded with worms they can not get nutrition when they eat.. This may not be her problem but it is where I would start.
