Hello. I have a 6 month old barred rock hen that hasn’t been her best for the last 2 days. I noticed her comb was flopping over and is extremely pale, along with her wattles. They felt cold to me. I haven’t seen her eat or drink much at all. I have offered her some of her favorite treats, yogurt, a little bit of bread and oats with some nutridrench over the top of it and she only will take the tiniest bit before she’s not interested anymore. By the end of the day yesterday her crop was still pretty empty. She laid down almost all day. Her poop is almost all liquid and quite yellow. I’ll attach a picture below. She goes in and out of the coop just fine but she’s the last one out in the morning. She needs some encouragement. I also noticed that she’s been sleeping on the floor instead of roosting like she normally does. I felt for an egg and did not come to the conclusion that she is in any way egg bound. But she has not laid in the past 2 days. Does this sound like anything specific? What are some things I can do to try and getting her feeling herself again. All suggestions are welcome. Thank you❤️

It can be hard to know if she has a reproductive infection or problem, or if she might have coccidiosis. Yellow runny poops can be common in either. If you can get Corid or amprollium, I would start some in her water. Dosage is 2 tsp of the liquid or 1.5 tsp of the powder per gallon of water for 5-7 days. Get her drinking water right away. Buttermilk or plain yogurt can give some nutrients.

You can insert a clean finger into her vent to feel for a stuck egg. Have you seen any shell-less or thin-shelled eggs from your chickens recently? Respiratory viruses can sometimes lead to reproductive problems.
