Hi all, please help if you can. 9 mo old light brahma. Stop laying eggs 2 weeks ago. Started to show signs of light molting on her legs 1 week ago. I checked every day for mites and lice, nothing. This hen used to eat like there was no tomorrow. She is not eating and barley drinking. I gave nutra drench one day, no improvement. I have been giving her 1 scrambled egg a day, since that is the only thing she seem somewhat interested in. Her poop on the poop shelf at night, is very watery, leaving a 1ft diameter wet spot under her. I will be taking her poop to the poultry lab Monday to see what they find, if anything. BTW it has been cold here in eastern PA, 30s daytime, 20s nighttime. The coop is insulated with venting at the top. It is a steady 32 in the coop at night. Has anyone seed this before?

I'd check to make sure her crop is emptying overnight, if it's not, then I'd address that symptom according to the article below.

Consider getting a fecal float to rule out worms as part of the problem, if that's not possible, then deworming may be an appropriate action to take.

To treat most worms that poultry can have except for Tapeworm you can use Safeguard (Fenbendazole) or Valbazen (Albendazole). Both are given orally by weight; they do not mix well with water.

Safeguard dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once a day for 5 days in a row.
---OR---
Valbazen dose is 0.08ml per pound of weight given orally once, then repeated in 10 days

Here's how to give oral medications:
