Hi! I got a batch of chicks from MM about 5 days ago. I lost one to pasty butt

yesterday. Now another one is acting very lethargic--will barely pick up her head, can stand, but immediately lays down. No pasty butt symptoms....
should I just watch and wait ( which i am inclined to do--it's too easy to "kill them with kindness")
she was eating and drinking earlier, but not now....
any suggestions?

I'd say the main thing is make sure it isn't too warm in their brooder and make sure it gets plenty of fresh air. Chicks need a place where it is cooler to get away from the heat lamp or light bulb, and fumes can build up in plastic totes or aquariums to harmful levels when you can't even smell ammonia. I'm sure you've read they need to be free of drafts -- but they also need good fresh air exchange.

There is an extensive article linked here on causes of chick mortality: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=39604

Good
luck!
