Lethargic chick

Ugh... Looking at my girls two are smaller and two are larger. I did corid for a week, took days break and started back yesterday. The smaller seem lethargic at times and then next time they are up checking things out eating. Then I'll check again and they are laying down with the bigger ones practically sitting on them. Am I bring paranoid? I also posted some pics under pictures and stories. Not sure how to link that. If you see them, Sofia and Patricia are the larger two. Gertrude and Bellatrix are the smaller. Thank you so much.
Chicks grow at different rates, just like children. I'm curious as to why you used corid for a week, took a couple of days off and started back? Treatment is usually for 5 days. Then i might treat again in 2 weeks for 2-3 days.

I had read it on here somewhere plus I thought everyone else was good after Smokey died. Should I not retreat now?

If you have done the initial treatment for 5 days, they should be improving. You can also give chicks(after treatment is complete) nutri drench or other similar product,to replace vitamins lost during treatment.

Bellatrix is looking rough. She lays down on her side with her wing extended. What should I do?

Medicmommy, I wish you well with your girls. I hope what you're experiencing isn't what's forthcoming with my girls. So far, all of my girls still appear healthy. It's been three days so far since I started the corid. Additionally, today I started dusting the run with food grade diamatracious earth from my local feed store. I read where it's good for preventing a lot of misc. outbreaks like mites and even cocci in the soil. It's also good for fly prevention which is bad this season in my area. I also read where you can mix it with the food which causes it to pass through their poop which is also prevents the fly larvae and such. If anyone else tried this, please chime in with pros or cons.

I use the dme mixed in the food and sparingly sprinkled in the pen. It is not good if it gets airborne and gets breathed in. I just use it as a preventative measure. My current flock is disease free, no worms, mites or other critters I can detect. When I am brooding chicks ill give them a cement tub mixed with peat moss, sand and dme to dry bathe in at about three weeks old. Use only the food grade dme. I get mine from TSC. One pound has lasted over two years so far. USE SPARINGLY!

I've got her drinking some. She drank about 3 tbls for me. She doesn't want to eat her chick food. She ate some egg earlier. Poop is very watery. Her's a current picture of her.

What was the dosage of corid you have been giving her? Should be powder - 1/2 tsp per gallon, liquid 2 tsp - per gallon. I would NOT use DE,this chick is ill enough, without throwing in possible respiratory issues. There is not enough scientific data, to support DE(diatomaceous earth) being the cure all that some people think. Coccidiosis is a parasitic infection of the intestinal tract DE will not cure this. It is dangerous, warning labels state "dangerous if inhaled" and if i have to wear a mask while using this product, then it is not worth it. I would not subject myself nor my chicks to anything that has the potential to be harmful to their health.
