Today my mom noticed that our road island red wasn't being her normal self. She was standing off to the side of the chicken yard not eating and just standing there. The rest of our girls seemed fine and were eating, being their chicken selves. But Little Red seemed to not want to act her normal self. A few days back, last Friday, one of our other chickens died. There was no reason and nothing had attacked her, she was just laying in the coop dead. Looking on here, I found that it happens to chickens. That they just die. I'm hoping this isn't going to happen to Little Red, but I am unsure.
She doesn't seem egg bound and I don't believe she has runny poop. I checked her stomach before I left for work and it was hard, so I assume she ate something? The girls were let out a few days back to dig through the yard and they have done this many times before, but Red wasn't sick on Monday. She was perfectly fine.
Hopefully someone has an answer. Both my mom and I are very worried.
