lethargic hen not good , shes 2 1/2 yrs old "UPDATE"

columbiacritter - have you been trying to get some water in her and feeding her? Use an eye dropper. If you don't feed her and she isn't eating on her own, she won't get better.

" update" my girl is still here, i can get her to drink water, but she wont eat , i tried giving her chick starter mixed with yogurt, i put it in her beak, maybe shes getting a little of it.... she seems to have problems with her legs now, like she cant walk, i just dont know what is going on with her, very frustrating!!and sad

I just went through this with a black sex link who was two years old. Pale comb, not eating or drinking. She held on for four days and finally crossed the rainbow bridge. Nothing appeared terribly wrong. Crop was clear, belly felt soft, not rigid or full. I gave her a bath twice which helped perk her up, but not enough. She would eat and drink if I held it up to her but not on her own and she seemed to get too tired to eat. The last day she just wanted to sleep.

Everyone else in the coop is fine, no problems at all. I don't think I will ever find out why. This was my first loss and I'll just have to deal.

I hope your girl rebounds. I had the best luck getting a warm wet mash with fruit yogurt into my girl. She liked that the best. I also warmed her water to tepid.

well, shes still hanging on! but she is not moving , she will still drink water, but doesnt want to eat, i also notice more people on here with almost the same problem, i wonder if this is common when some hens reach the 2yr. old mark? i have her separated, all my other hens & roos are fine.

May I suggest the Vet
he or she can probably help you
if it is internal absorbing of the egg Nothing can help her
some vets give very strong calcium shots and can some times get the hen to stay alive
but most generally you just let her live till she passes
